Fun in the Garden

Thanks to our powerful bunch of leaders who met this week to polish our Goals for 2014.  We are:  Architect Diana Su, Principal Betty Jenkins, Biology Professor Amanda Masino, Attorney Justin Bowes, Outreach Specialist and Wildlife Habitat Steward Darlene Watkins, Food for Black Thought Innovator Dominique Bowman, Donna Hoffman, Blackshear Bridge Project Coordinator, and Cristina Santos, Parent Support Specialist.   That’s Cristina in the photo with her daughter Delilah (r), a garden enthusiast and a friend.

Thanks also to our special guest speaker, Colleen Garland the former Green Classroom teacher for the City of Austin at Becker Elementary and Jessica Van Roekel who is interested in helping Blackshear Bridge in our grantwriting.  Very cool.

It is wonderful to feel our community come together to practice sustainability with the students at Blackshear Elementary School and Huston-Tillotson University.

Want to join us?  There are a lot of ways to get involved.  Let us know what your talents and interests are by emailing donnaleehoffman@gmail.com.

Something particular we’d like is additional volunteers to enjoy Enrichment Time in the garden at Blackshear on Fridays at 1:30.  Its a lot of fun! Plus, you get fresh veggies and herbs.  Email donnaleehoffman@gmail.com to find out more.

Thanks!
