Join Blackshear Bridge and friends for Love Your Neighbor, a benefit on Sunday, February 10, from 4-7 PM at Tamale House East, 1707 E. 6th Street. The afternoon will include live Latin funk by Ex Romantika, an eclectic silent auction and delicious appetizers by Tamale House East.
Meet Blackshear Bridge members, event hosts, special guests, and the Hispanic Austin Leadership (HAL) financial stability team, who are helping us to support affordability in Central East Austin this Spring.
Two of our programs – the Friendly Garden Mural plus our Community Outreach & Engagement for Affordability — are reaching a crescendo this April 2019.
We need your help.

In January & February, we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Black History Month.
In March, we will knock on every door in the area with affordability resource information and invitations to workshops to help neighbors stay in their homes. At the workshops, we will teach our neighbors how to challenge their property taxes, file their homestead exemptions, and get help repairing their homes.
In April, we will celebrate the historic birthday of Friendly R. Rice, the former, innovative Blackshear Elementary School Principal. We will unveil the Friendly Garden Mural commemorating his legacies and bring together past students, faculty, and parents for a special Blackshear Elementary School reunion.
